Jim co-founded Selby Venture Partners in 1998 and brings over 18 years of investment and technology experience in the Silicon Valley. He currently focuses his investments in software, consumer services, and sustainable technology and services.
When mentoring and supporting management teams of Selby portfolio companies, Jim draws on expertise developed during his nine years in various positions at Silicon Valley Bank. While there, he worked closely with more than 75 early-stage, emerging growth technology companies. In his last position as Vice President of the Commercial Software Practice, he worked with a number of venture-backed software and Internet companies including Accrue Software, BEA Systems, Broadbase Software, E.piphany and Nuance Communications. Jim is active in the Silicon Valley ecosystem and is a board member of the Silicon Valley Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth, the VC/Private Equity Roundtable, and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University. He received a B.S. degree in Finance from Santa Clara University, and an MBA from Pepperdine University, where he was honored as a Distinguished Alumnus in 2007. Outside of the office, his time is devoted to his family, golf, tennis, and playing drums and guitar. |
